In Hulu’s latest sci-fi thriller, “No One Will Save You,” which is now available for streaming, Kaitlyn Dever takes on a challenging role where she battles aliens for nearly an hour and a half, all while speaking very little.

Kaitlyn Dever, known for her Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, portrays Brynn in the film. Brynn is an anxious introvert whose peaceful night is disrupted by the intrusion of extraterrestrial beings into her home. Brynn’s struggle to fend off the “Greys” begins shortly after the movie starts, but as the story unfolds, we gradually learn about her traumatic past through non-verbal interactions with other residents of her town.

Writer-director Brian Duffield shared his thoughts on creating the character of Brynn and merging it with the concept of an alien invasion. He explained, “I had this idea for the character of Brynn. I knew all of that backstory and the life she lived, and I didn’t really know what to do with it… Having someone barely equipped to deal with people [and] having to engage with this threat felt like a very fresh way into that story.”

Remarkably, aside from one pivotal line delivered by Dever towards the film’s climax, “No One Will Save You” unfolds its narrative without spoken dialogue. Duffield described how this unique choice came about, stating, “It was a character thing where this person really wants a community and doesn’t think she’s deserving of one. It felt like that device just amplified her character… She’s not going to say, ‘It’s an alien in my house!’ Also, when you have Kaitlyn Dever, she doesn’t need to say anything. She can monologue with her eyes in a really impressive way.”

The film’s decision to rely on visual storytelling without spoken words has resonated with viewers, earning praise for its innovative approach. As one viewer expressed, “What an absolute class on filmmaking… ‘No Now Will Save You’ is a home-alone-girl horror movie. But, here, the masked killer is an alien from outer space. No dialogue in the entire film. And somehow completely riveting.”
